Investing in business analytics means investing in technology, but first and foremost, it is about investing in improving a company’s business. The greatest challenge that has to be faced here is how to understand users’ needs, define a project’s scope and establish expectations. Since every company is unique, the solutions that we implement are adapted to each specific organization, its business goals and people involved.
During implementation, we rely on our own special methodology tailored to suite our market. We have named it “BI Spiral” because it enables going back to a previous activity within every phase. For example, testing already begins with the making of the first outputs, training is already in process in the preparation phase etc. Each of the phases results with a document that is brought into accord with and is verified by a user. BI Spiral is also a tool for the coordination of expectations with outcomes and needs with deadlines.
For creating standard reports such as profit and loss accounts or management reports, we have developed a special module for defining each item in a report and each one of them is leveled out with regards to a specific kind of user: financial reports are dependent on regulations, finances are money flow oriented, production is focused on articles and quantities, while the sales and marketing sector gets better understanding of customers and has a better insight into stock items, so it follows more parameters – for example, it tracks the profitability of each product.
Owing to parameterized reports and OLAP technology, end-users are in a position to create reports on their own thus saving both time and money. Without BI technology, a great number of requests are forwarded to an IT sector which needs days to complete a certain task. One user commented that, if he could save the two hours per week that each of his 20 employees in the sales department spends preparing weekly and monthly reports and plans, it would enable him to have an additional employee in the sales department. Another user wanted a screen or a sheet length report so that he can have a quick glance of the previous business day. Our team is here to satisfy such demands.
